Boat and Beach Report-Tuesday June 13, 2017

Water temperatures, especially along the South Coast, continue to climb.  We are nearly at 60 degrees at Block Island and the other beaches around Washington and Bristol Counties.  A cold front will cross the region tonight which will fire off showers and thunderstorms ahead of it this afternoon.  For more on the thunder threat, see the daily forecast.

High-resolution radar is indicating that the first round of showers and storms will move through Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties around 12-2 PM.   A second more numerous round of showers will arrive around 4 PM for the South Coast beaches.

Here are the SST’s as of last night.  The 15 C (59 F) is creeping towards Southern New England.

In terms of anomalies, the water off of New England is well below average for this time of year.  The weather pattern we had this spring contributed to these cool anomalies.

If you’re lucky enough to be at the beach today, enjoy.
