Boat and Beach Report 6/16/2017

NWS Boston Surf Zone Forecast Friday

2-4 foot surf will lead to a moderate risk of rip currents.  Skies are cloudy and rain and thunderstorms will make for a bad beach day.  Along the East coast of MA high tide was between 4-5 AM and low tide will be at 1030-1145 AM.  This is also the case for the Cape Beaches.  Along the South Coast of RI/MA, high tide this afternoon is around 1 PM.  Water temperatures are on the rise.  For the first time, we see a 60 reading off Newport.

Persistent SW Flow will make SST’s along the South Coast even warmer by early next week.  Given the forecast for Sunday, I expect a lot of people to head to the beach.  Surf conditions will likely be dangerous with moderate to strong rip currents and 3-5 foot surf.  I will update tomorrow.
